About
Captain Doug Martin. Twenty-seven years inshore.
Born and raised on the water. Coast Guard licensed since the late nineties. Doug lives in Frisco, fishes year-round, and runs Hallelujah Charters out of Teach's Lair Marina in Hatteras Village.

Doug grew up fishing the sound and the inlet. By the time he ran his first paying charter in 1998, he already had two decades of local knowledge in his head — which sand flat holds bait in May, where the trout drop into the channels when the water cools, what the wind direction means for an afternoon on the inside.
A long-time customer on TripAdvisor put it best: “You won't find a more dedicated charter captain on Hatteras Island. In all that time I can only remember one day when it was slow.”
Doug is known for two things customers mention almost without exception. He works hard at finding fish. And he is calm with kids. If your son or daughter is on their first charter, they'll come home wanting to do it again.

From a 2004 Sportfishing Report feature.
“Doug Martin is known throughout Hatteras Island as one of the best inshore fishermen around. We followed him out at sunup, and by 8:30 the cooler was already heavy. The man reads the sound like a second language.”
