The boat

25 ft Cape Lookout. Built for the sound and the inlet.

Doug runs a Cape Lookout center console — a boat designed for the exact water we fish. Stable in chop, fast across the sound, and with enough deck space for five anglers to work comfortably.

25 foot Cape Lookout under way out of Teach's Lair Marina

Built for inshore.

The Cape Lookout hull is a flat-deck center console known on the Carolina coast for its run-and-fish versatility. Light enough to get across Pamlico Sound quickly, stable enough to drift the inlet, with enough freeboard for an outside day if the weather holds.

All rods, reels, terminal tackle, and bait are on the boat. Doug ties what's working. You don't need to bring anything except sunscreen, water, a hat, and a non-glass cooler for the catch.
