Aggressive and abundant. Spring and fall blitzes near the inlet.
Bluefish run in schools and they don't ask twice. When they're blitzing on bait near the inlet, you can't keep a topwater plug in the water. Spring (April-May) and fall (September-November) are the strong stretches.
Light wire leader keeps the bite intact (they have teeth). Cast metal jigs, swim plugs, anything that moves fast. Kids love bluefish because every cast can be a hookup.
