When the water warms in June, Spanish mackerel show up in schools chasing bait near the inlet and on the ocean side. They're fast, they hit hard, and they fill the cooler quickly. The action is non-stop on the right day.
Small Clark spoons trolled at speed work. So does a cast metal jig retrieved fast through a feeding school. Beginners love them because the bite is unmistakable.
